Trainee Grip

The Trainee Grip is the entry-level Grip role. Works under the Grip / Dolly Grip / Best Boy Grip learning dolly operation, kit handling, and on-set Grip discipline.

What the role does

• Handles kit movement + setup
• Supports dolly + crane setups under supervision
• Observes the Key Grip on advanced camera-support work

Position

Reports to Grip / Dolly Grip / Best Boy Grip.

SI Competency Framework Level 1 — New Entrant. Path: Trainee → Grip / Dolly Grip → Best Boy Grip → Key Grip.
