Re-recording Mixer
The Re-recording Mixer creates the final sound mix — balancing dialogue, music, sound effects, and ambience into the delivered track. Often the most senior sound role on the production.
What the role does
- Mixes the final sound track for delivery — theatrical, broadcast, streaming
- Balances dialogue, music, sound effects, ambience
- Generates multiple mix versions for different delivery formats (theatrical 5.1, broadcast stereo, near-field, etc.)
- Coordinates with Sound Editor on stems + elements
- Works with director + producer in the mix theatre
Position
Reports to director + producer in the mix sessions.
Career progression
Long-arc specialist career. Often hosted at a specific facility / dubbing theatre.
