Children's Chaperone
The Children's Chaperone is a specialist on-set role for productions with child performers. Required by Irish law on any production where children perform. Manages welfare, statutory working hours, education + schoolwork during shoot windows, and acts as the responsible adult on set when the parent / guardian is not present.
Garda-vetted as required by the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 — see Garda Vetting.
What the role does
- Acts as the responsible adult on set for child performers
- Enforces statutory working hours + rest breaks per the Child performance licences regime
- Supervises schoolwork during the shoot day
- Coordinates with parents / guardians + 1st Assistant Director (1st AD) on schedule
- Maintains welfare + manages any safeguarding issues
Position
Reports to 1st Assistant Director (1st AD) / producer on shoot-day matters. Parallel safeguarding accountability.
