Hair Designer

The Hair Designer is the head of department for Hairdressing. Designs the hair concept for every character, leads the team, and coordinates with Costume Designer and Make-up Designer on the overall character look.

What the role does

• Designs character hair concepts in collaboration with the director + production designer
• Coordinates with Make-up Designer and Costume Designer on character continuity
• Sources or manufactures wigs + hairpieces + supervises wig builds
• Leads the on-set Hairdressing team — Hairdresser and Junior Hairdresser
• Manages the Hair budget in coordination with Line Producer

Position

Reports to producer + director on creative; coordinates with the broader hair/makeup/costume design triangle.
